"On the brink of default": Elisa Carrió presented her candidates with criticism of the government.

Civic Coalition-ARI leader Elisa Carrió harshly criticized the economic policy of Javier Milei 's government on Monday, warning that the country was " on the brink of default ." Her statements coincided with the President's confirmation that he will request a loan from the U.S. Treasury during his trip to New York to attend the UN General Assembly.
Carrió stated that Argentina "should be geopolitically independent." She clarified that the point is not to sever ties with Washington, but rather to maintain a balanced relationship. "Not to have bad relations with the US, but to have good relations with the US, but not to disengage from the BRICS, and even less so from Mercosur, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, and Paraguay," she explained.
The former congresswoman also questioned the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo , and the president of the Central Bank, Santiago Bausili, whom she held responsible for the current crisis. "He didn't buy the Central Bank's reserves and liquidated them on the market," Carrió accused Bausili. In turn, Caputo claimed that he favored "the business of his trader friends." Overall, she described them as " the criminals responsible for having brought the country to the brink of default ."
Along these lines, she questioned the use of international loans and outlined what, in her opinion, the strategy should have been. "The loans should have been used to permanently eliminate agricultural taxes and produce agro-industrial development that competes with the rest of the world to build towns and cities and improve education," argued Elisa Carrió.
The statements were made at a Civic Coalition-ARI party event, during the presentation of candidates for national deputies and senators. The event was held at the Ukrainian Association of Prosvita Culture. There, Carrió not only took aim at the libertarian ruling party but also criticized the Peronist party's slate. "The LLA slates are full of the worst of the PJ. The only ones who will guarantee that there will be no coup against the President are the republican forces," she stated.
The presentation of candidates included Buenos Aires legislator Hernán Reyes , who will compete for a seat in the House of Representatives, and national representative Marcela Campagnoli , nominated for the Senate. Reyes took the floor and stated: "It's a lie that Argentina is reduced to being Kirchnerist or libertarian. It's a lie that Argentina has to surrender its values," he asserted.
